"What we observed at US Synthetic is this is an amazing company. The most significant thing we see is their ability to enable and engage their people."
— Robert Miller, Examiner & Director, The Shingo Prize, on the 2011 Shingo Prize evaluationTwo Engineers in a New World
In 2004, two R&D engineers were thrust into the unfamiliar world of manufacturing, a field neither had experience in, searching for a better way to run a struggling product line. What followed was an accident of humility — discovering that a single principle, flow, could turn that line into the best-performing one in the business in days, not years.
That discovery scaled into a culture. Employee-driven improvements grew from about five a year to nearly 75,000. The operation earned the Shingo Prize, and — more telling — sustained its rate of engagement through two major market downturns, when disengagement would have been the easy path.
Culture by Design Partners exists to teach that same methodology to other leaders, so it doesn't take twenty years to learn.
